So I love watching the Republican primary debates. I’m not going to lie… I’m a democrat, so I take it in with a grain of salt and a bit of cynicism. I competed in Forensics in college and majored in communication. To this day I will give a speech if I ever have the chance, and I enjoy watching others speak publicly. I like watching the remarks and interactions of both the speaker the way the crowd responds to them. I like the people running. In the debates I’m secretly gunning for Ron Paul. I like his demeanor, I like that he is socially liberal and fiscally conservative like me. I like Gingrich but he’s historically a loose cannon who seems to self destruct once things get hot. No one seems to know if Gingrich is running as a serious candidate or simply to drum up more revenue in speaking fees. As far as electability goes, Mitt Romney was the front runner for a long time. I think he’s good but he’s gotta pull in a wing man or something cuz it seems like he just can’t close the deal with the American people. And then out of left field here comes Santorum. I’m not sure how he did it but in the 25th hour it seems like Santorum successfully completed the hail-Mary pass and may go all the way. I love watching the debates. I love watching the red-herring responses. It seems like whenever any of them don’t know the answer they throw the other one under the bus or the default answer “The real problem is that Obama is doing this…” And somehow birth control became the hot topic of this election. We’re not worried about our fragile economy, or rising education cost, or even the environment. No the hot topic is birth control. If I remember right we settled this issue in approximately 1989, or even as far back as the 1960’s before a lot of us were even alive. So I’m not going to lie… I’m a democrat and the debate in Arizona tonight was something for the history books.
