So I was driving home from work today, venting about my day. It seems as though no matter what you do, or where you work, there will be times when you feel beat down, overwhelmed or exploited. So I’m with my husband, having a very self-centered moment complaining when I look over and see a RAK (Random Act of Kindness). There was a person down on their luck outside of Circle K, maybe homeless maybe a drifter, and a complete stranger grabbed him a hot dog on his way out. The drifter didn’t approach the man, didn’t complain or ask for anything. The stranger didn’t make fuss over his deed, or expect a pat on the back from anyone. It’s moments like these where I stop and think to myself that the world isn’t such a bad place. It seems like the only things that make headlines are the terrible things that happen to people, car jacking, robbery, fires, tornadoes, etc. I am by no means a journalist and I don’t even know if anyone will read this but this is my headline and it’s about the good things in life. There are moments in life when, if you pay attention, you will see the light of God in others. In our individualist society ridden with angry, self-centered people who feel a sense of entitlement, it’s nice to see a Random Act of Kindness. It reminds me that there is a God and that some people haven’t stopped caring.
