My brother has told me this for years. If you show up for school everyday then statistically you should be able to pass with a B. We all know that things don’t quite work like that. Life isn’t cut and dry with predictable results. If it were an amended rule it would be that 80% of life is showing up with a good attitude doing what you are told. You can’t get the grade if you don’t do the work. You can’t win the game if you don’t give it your all in practice. You can’t get your promotion if you aren’t preforming where you are. The first step in all these principles — the most crucial part of the whole equation — is the showing up part. If you can’t do that that then everything else is trivial. No matter who you are, where you are and where you want to be you can get there. Chances are you just have to convince someone else that you want it. I don’t think of myself as particularly successful. I haven’t done anything seemingly great or have enough status to convince you that my beliefs are true. I have simply found the path of least resistance that works for me in my life and the situations I find myself in.
