Arizona is a unique state. Once part of the wild west, things happen differently around here. Most people you meet are not natives of our state. They come from here and there and everywhere. They come because California is too expensive with too much traffic. They come because snow and tornadoes and sleet and hail and the white Christmas is over rated. They come to be with there families or get away from them. Some come to start jobs, while others come to retire from jobs they once had. It’s been said Arizona has a transient economy; for every one family that leave two more take there place.
In spite of all that fluid change one thing has stayed the same. For the past hundred years we have been a red state. There was a close call back in 1996 when we voted for Bill Clinton but other than that we are reliably red. Most people here believe to stand for the big G.O.D. you should vote with the G.O.P. Whether right or wrong, good or bad that is how things have been (So far…)
Predictions say with our large Hispanic population there could be a shift in our alignments and anything is possible. Notably, another reliably red state may also come into play as a new battle ground territory for exactly the same reason. Texas. Texas has 38 electoral votes. More than Florida, Pennsylvanian or Ohio. It’s the second highest in the USA. California has 55 being the highest.
What does this mean?
WELL… It’s arthritic to win you need 270. Most states are reliable states they vote for the same party pretty predictably with some exceptions. Other states are battle ground states where the most money is spent in every elections. Without Texas it’s going to be very hard to get to 270 for republicans. So much of the map is either true blue or tends to lean blue. Picking up California in stead of Texas could do it; however, if you remember California was the first state to legalize gay marriage and medical marijuana. So technically it’s possible, just not probable.
There is hope for the GOP. RE-BRANDING!!!!
It will take some work, some give and some compromised but it can be done. Look at Susan G. Komen. She took a terrible disease that scares the heebie jeebies out every woman out there Breast Cancer and managed to create a great br . Make it pink cut off a piece of the profit for research and you can sell just about anything. Another thing would be to get as far away from the tea party as possible. They have Sarah Palin, The Koch Brothers, and Told Akin. This movement is toxic and takes votes away from legitimate republicans.
