So who is the greatest writer of all time? Is it Shakespeare? Maybe. His work was revolutionary for the time. His plays were preformed by people from near and far to entertain the biggest audiences in the era they were written in and still to this day. His stories are the themes for movies that are very popular in this era. It is even rumored Shakespeare could have been entrusted to transcribe the first English translation of the Bible the infamous King James Circa 1500’s.
Did you know?
“The Lion King” is a version of Hamlet
“10 things I hate about you” is a version of Taming of the Shrew
“Westside Story” is a version of Romeo and Juliet
Maybe it was Jane Austin? She was a relatively unknown author in her life time and didn’t gain wide recognition until almost two centuries after her death. She use wit and parody to contrast the widely accepted idealized versions of romance with the real experience of being in a relationship.
Movies based loosely on her works are:
Prada To Nada- Sense and Sensibility
With at least 28 (the amount I found in my searches )other productions and reproductions of her most know works including “Emma,” “Pride and Prejudice”, “Sense and Sensibility”, “Persuasion”, “Mansfield Park” and “Nothanger Abey” from 1938-2012.
Hmmm… Challenging the Status Quo with wit and parody; a woman after my own heart. Or someone good enough to translate the Bible in to a timeless piece that is still being used by many today to teach God’s word Almost 500 years later. You decide or pick a “write-in” to challenge my suggestions.
