If we are talking about the present, the answer’s got to be either J.K Rowling or Stephanie Myer. They are both credited with inspiring children to enjoy reading. They have built br s and empires on nothing but a story; something that is a challenge to say the least.
Harry Potter the only book except the Bible, and possibly the book of Mormon, that has been translated in over 67 languages other than English. 8 movies under your belt and a well deserve fortune and biography film. It’s not every day a Britt on government assistance acquires more money than Oprah. If you ever read this, please send me your play book.
Twilight- Team Edward Vs. Team Jacob. Taking relatively unknown actors and launching them to super stardom with Kristen Stewart now the highest paid female actress in Hollywood (sorry Angelina). And poor Robert Patterson. Honey, you’re someone who wasn’t exactly made for the lime light. I remember seeing you on the news get hit bad a cab trying to escape a mob of crazy tweens. Plus Twilight has merch ise galore and enough clout to l a movie deal for Host. I tip my hat to you Myers.
But wait creating a world wide phenomenon, br empire based on a story isn’t exactly a new thing…. Who remembers the 70’s? Or at least what happened back then.
Do you remember J.R.R Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings in the 70’s? It was the 1st great wizard book. Inspiring some of the 1st super fans in costumes, related merch ise and movies relevant and loved 30+ years after the fact.
Or what about Star Wars? They were books first and lots of them, over 20 authors, 8 story line era’s, 1 set of reference books, 6 movies, and at least 1 still running cartoon series. Star Wars a true Saga. Inspiring costumes, the most famous including a gold bikini for a strange male fantasy, and the greatest movie inspired novelty product of all time. .. The Light Saber… Just saying, I was h ed one of these over 35 years later at the DECA national conference.
If you <3 Rob Patterson then votes for Twilight and Harry Potter both technically count.
If you love magic and secretly want to be a wizard then a vote for Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings will do.
If you never miss comic con or would kill for a girl in a gold bikini with said light saber then you have to go for Star Wars.
