There once was a lock smith. He lost his business in a fire. He would roam from town to town looking for work. He was wayward and hungry. One day he stopped into a town and bought a duck. He had always dreamed of having a pet swan but the duck was all he could afford. He thought about it for a while. He thought he could kill the duck and have one nice meal. Then a thought occurred to him. He could keep this duck as a pet and just eat the eggs. He still hoped and dream every day that this duck he bought would be a swan. He prayed every day for a good stable job and a home. The more time he spent with the duck the more found he became of it.
Now the duck knew her fate. She knew where she came from and why the locksmith had purchased her. She knew the man would take her eggs and one day when he had enough wealth and security he would cook the duck to and buy himself a swan. As the duck and lock smith w ered through their wayward life the locksmith believed that the duck brought him all of his good fortune. He spoiled the duck with all he could afford knowing this magical duck was the key to his success.
One day the man found a good job as a care taker. All he had to do was tend to the renters and him and the duck would be safe and have a good home. The duck was happy to have a home yet she knew one day the man would slaughter her have one good meal. The duck was smart she kept one egg to herself she thought she could hide this egg and God would bless her faithfulness. She hoped that God would bless her. She wished that this egg would be a swan so that the locksmith with would be happy. The duck knew that then she could keep her life.
One day by a miracle a small hidden egg hatched. The egg produced a goose. The duck told the goose to keep her neck stretched as far as it could so that the lock smith would think it was a swan and they both could live in peace. The duck was never more than a duck. The goose was never more than a goose. And the lock smith loved them both all the same. imgres
